What is the PTA?

The Lobo PTA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit local unit organized under the authority of the California PTA, a branch of the National PTA.

The PTA provides extra resources for our teachers, enriches our programs and assemblies, such as Meet the Masters, and Imagination Machine, subsidizes school field trips and organizes volunteer opportunities. In addition, we try to support our school’s teachers and staff with staff appreciation events, extra art programs, assemblies, and themed weeks. These events help to enrich the lives of the children attending Lobo Elementary.

PTA can only provide these events and resources through your membership, participation in fundraisers, and volunteering at one of our many school events. We hope you will join the PTA and work with us to create a strong school community. Our school is strong because our families are involved.

What Will Be Expected of Me?

There is no expectation on any parent member, any amount of time you can give to the PTA will always be well received. There are a variety of ways you can get involved. Engaging with social media, attending PTA Meetings or volunteering at one of the many events we sponsor are all great ways to support our organization. Even donating preloved items, raffle prizes or suggesting brilliant ideas are ways of getting involved. There seems to be a myth that if you get involved with your PTA you will never be able to escape! We make it clear that parents can come to our meetings to just listen and learn, or they can take a more active role if they want to, there are no set expectations.

PTA Membership Quick Facts:

All are Welcome – Moms, Dads, Parent(s), Guardian(s), Neighbors, Community Members, etc.
You do not need to volunteer to be a Member.
You are not required to attend meetings as a Member.

I've joined the PTA. What else can I do to support Lobo?

• DONATE during our Fall Membership Drive. The PTA spends over $100 per child on programs at Lobo. This year, we ask that each family contribute what they can, with a recommended contribution of $100+ or more per child, to fund PTA programs.
• VOLUNTEER Join a committee, help organize an event, look for ad hoc volunteer opportunities in the PTA newsletter, become a room parent, or volunteer at an event.
• PARTICIPATE in PTA meetings and PTA events. We invite you to come and learn more about what the PTA does for our school, discuss new programs, and vote on decisions. Please join us!
• STAY INFORMED Please follow, comment, and post pictures on our Instagram and Facebook page. You can also find information on the PTA website. We also communicate with Friday Flyers and send out a PTA newsletter exclusively to PTA members.
• FUNDRAISE Spread the word. Start with your own networks of relatives, co-workers, neighbors, and other acquaintances. Share on your IG or FB account our fundraising events, FAll Festival, APex fun run, book fair, candy sales, and Dine Out events.
